Teresa Sarkesian, President & CEO
|Teresa Sarkesian has some 25 years of experience in policy development and advocacy gained through experience in the Ontario government and the private sector. Early in her career, Teresa worked in various ministries in policy development. She provided strategic advice to a diverse range of clients as a consultant lobbyist for a number of years, and was Director of Industry Affairs at the Cement Association of Canada’s Ontario Region office.
She joined the EDA in 2009 as VP of Government and Member Affairs and has led the Policy and Government Affairs Team as since 2011. She has been involved in all of the association's major policy efforts since then, including the development of a policy paper related to regulatory reform, a new vision for CDM, a submission to the Ontario Sector Review Panel, and the more recent development of a vision and policy proposal for sector re-structuring.
Teresa holds a Master of Public Administration (Queen's University), a Master of Arts (UofT), and an Honours BA (UofT).
Justin Rangooni, VP, Policy & Government Affairs
|Justin Rangooni became the EDA’s Vice President, Policy and Government Affairs in July 2016. Justin joined the association in 2012 as Senior Director, Conservation and Energy Policy after managing the provincial arm of the Canadian Wind Energy Association for several years. Prior to that, he held a number of positions in the provincial government, including in the Minister of Energy’s office at Queen’s Park.
Justin has been part of the Policy and Government Affairs department since joining the EDA and played a leading role in the development of the Conservation First Framework. He has been an active voice with key provincial government decision makers, advocating for issues on behalf of Ontario’s LDCs.
In addition to holding a law degree from Western University, Justin graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Degree in Economics and Political Science.
Ted Wigdor, VP, Corporate & Member Affairs
|Ted Wigdor joined the EDA as Vice President, Corporate and Member Affairs in September 2016. Ted is an experienced association executive with over 25 years of experience in the fields of public policy and government relations. Before joining the EDA, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Stone, Sand & Gravel Association, which represents 280 aggregate producers and suppliers to the aggregate industry. Ted also served as Vice President, Government, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs for the Certified General Accountants of Ontario and spent 10 years with a government relations consulting firm, assuming progressive leadership roles until becoming the President.
Ted holds an MBA from the University of Ottawa, a Master's degree in Public Administration from Carleton University, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree, specializing in management policy and public sector management, from McGill University. He also holds a Chartered Director designation, issued by the Director’s College, a joint venture of McMaster University and the Conference Board of Canada.
Tamara Orlova, Director, Finance and Administration
|Tamara Orlova joined the EDA as Director of Finance and Administration in July 2016. Tamara brings over twenty years of accounting and financial experience from her past roles in the public and private sectors. Prior to joining the EDA, she served as the Finance Director for the Building Owners and Managers Association of the GTA for three years. She also spent five years at Deloitte & Touche LLP in Toronto working as an auditor.
Tamara holds an Honours Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree from Polytechnic University in Kiev, Ukraine and a Diploma with Honours in Accounting and Finance from Seneca College in Toronto. She completed 18 credits in the CGA program while working full-time at an investment management company and holds the CPA, CGA designation.
